President Yameen sends message of sympathy to the Prime Minister of Pakistan

28 March 2016; President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has sent a message of sympathy to the Prime Minister of Pakistan, His Excellency Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, following the bomb attack in Lahore.

The President’s message reads as follows;

“It was with deep shock and sorrow that I learned of the deadly bomb blasts in Lahore resulting in the death of many innocent people and injury to many more. The Government and people of the Maldives join me in condemning these terrorist attacks in the strongest terms, and we express our firm solidarity with you, the Government and the people of Pakistan.”

“The Maldives condemns terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, and nothing can justify attacks on innocent civilians. Countering terrorism and militant extremism requires a global effort and the Maldives stands ready to work with Pakistan in eliminating the menace of terror.”

“During this period of grief, I would like to convey my heartfelt sympathy to Your Excellency, the Government and brotherly people of Pakistan. Our hearts and prayers are with the members of the bereaved families as well as with all those who have been injured in this attack.”
