Minister of Foreign Affairs joins World Leaders at the annual UN General Debate

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Maldives, Ms. Dunya Maumoon, led the Maldivian delegation to the opening of the general debate of the 70th Session of the General Assembly. This year’s general debate convened at an unprecedented time in history.Just three days earlier, world leaders’ adopted the 2030 Sustainable Agenda. The bold and inspiring agenda, which is a culmination of three years international negotiations, aims to build a transformative and sustainable world for all by 2030. This year also marks the 70th anniversary of the United Nations, and offers a timely occasion for the world leaders to reflect and embark on reforms to revitalize the general assembly and the United Nations.

Minister Dunya is scheduled to address the General Assembly on 3rd October 2015 as Head of Maldives Delegation. The Minister is also scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with some of her counterparts and other Head of Delegations at the sidelines of the ongoing General Assembly.
