Minister of Foreign Affairs, Her Excellency Ms. Dunya Maumoon has inaugurated the training program; Basic Training in Diplomatic Practice, at the Ministry of foreign Affairs, this morning. This is the first of its major series of trainings conducted by Foreign Service Institute of Maldives (FOSIM) which is accredited by the Maldives Qualifications Authority.
In her statement at the inauguration, Minister Dunya stated that the Ministry prioritizes staff development and places staff professionalism at the center of efforts in promoting policies and service delivery.
A total of 20 participants from the Ministry will undertake the training program. This Certificate Level program consists of 14 modules aimed at enabling learners to acquire the foundational knowledge and skills on diplomatic practice, bilateral diplomacy, multilateral diplomacy, the Maldives Foreign Policy, protocol and etiquettes, for them to function effectively at the Ministry and overseas missions. This program scheduled to be held from September 2015 to March 2016, will be taught by experienced in-service diplomats working at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The FOSIM was established in 2014 within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with the central aim of developing human capacity and to nurture professionalism in the Foreign Service sector.
