Foreign Minister Dunya expresses sympathy to Nepal FM

Issued By

13 May 2015, Male’: Minister of Foreign Affairs Her Excellency Ms Dunya Maumoon has sent a message of sympathy ‎‎to His Excellency Mr. Mahendra Bahadhur Pandey, Foreign Minister of Nepal, following the powerful ‎earthquake that struck eastern Nepal yesterday. ‎

The Message reads as follows;

“It was with deep shock and sorrow that I learnt about the 7.4 magnitude earthquake that struck eastern Nepal yesterday, causing the loss of many lives and grievous injury to many more, as well as severe damage to property and infrastructure. I am profoundly saddened that yesterday’s earthquake comes at a time when  the people of Nepal are grieving the loss and damage caused by the earthquake of 25 April 2015 that resulted in the loss of 7000 lives and caused irrevocable damage to property and livelihood.

The Government and the people of the Maldives join me in conveying sincere sympathy to the Government and people of Nepal and stand in solidarity at this time of national tragedy.

I hope that the rescue and recovery operations continue smoothly and pray for strength and fortitude for the Nepalese people at this tragic time.

Please also convey my sincere condolences to the members of the bereaved families”
