Foreign Minister Sends Message of Condolence to South African Foreign Minister

7 December 2013, Malé; Minister of Foreign Affairs H. E. Ms. Dunya Maumoon has sent a message of condolence to South African Minister for International Relations and Cooperation, H. E. Ms. Maite Emily Nkoana-Mashabane, following the passing away of former President Nelson Mandela.

In the message, Minister Dunya Minister has said that Mr. Mandela will always be remembered for standing tall on the principles of freedom and human dignity, during very difficult times in the history of South Africa. Minister Dunya also said that Mr. Mandela “was a global symbol of courage and hope, and will remain an inspiration for millions around the world. Indeed, his passing away is not only a loss to South Africa but one for the entire humanity.”

Minister Dunya concluded her message by extending her heartfelt condolences to the Government and the people of South Africa and to the members of the bereaved family, on behalf of the Government and the people of Maldives, at this time of national and international mourning.
