Foreign Minister departs to Malaysia to attend the Extraordinary Session of OIC Foreign Ministers on the Situation of Rohingya Muslims

16 January 2017, Male'; Minister of Foreign Affairs H.E. Dr. Mohamed Asim has departed for Malaysia to attend the Extraordinary session of the Organisation of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on the situation of the Rohingya Muslim Minority in Myanmar, scheduled to take place in Malaysia on 19 January 2017.

The Maldives delegation to the Session led by Minister Asim includes, Ambassador of the Republic of Maldives to Malaysia H.E. Mr. Mohamed Fahmy Hassan, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mr. Ibrahim Shaheeb, Deputy Ambassador of the Republic of Maldives to Malaysia Ms. Ghaniya Abdul Ghafoor, and Assistant Director at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ms. Moomina Ibrahim.

Minister Asim is scheduled to deliver a statement at the council of Foreign Ministers.

The Maldives became a member of the OIC on 26 July 1976.
