2 December 2016, Colombo; Foreign Minister His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Asim has met with the Foreign Minister of Sri Lanka Hon. Mangala Samaraweera, this morning.
During the meeting held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka both Ministers discussed on ways of further strengthening and enhancing the existing strong bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
Both Ministers also discussed the importance of working through the Joint Commission to review all sectors of cooperation between the two countries. In this regard, they agreed to hold the next Joint Commission meeting in the Maldives at the earliest.
Foreign Minister Asim expressed appreciation to the Government of Sri Lanka for the continued support and cooperation extended to the Maldives.
Minister Asim was accompanied to the meeting by the Ambassador of Maldives to Sri Lanka, Her Excellency Zahiya Zareer, Deputy Ambassador, Mr. Abbas Adil Riza and Assistant Director, Ms. Samahath Zuhuree, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
