Ambassador of Indonesia calls on Foreign Minister Asim

29 August 2016, Male'; H.E. Mr Harimawan Suyitno, Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the Republic of Maldives, has called on the Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Dr. Mohamed Asim.

Minister Dr. Asim welcomed the Ambassador and noted the close bilateral relations between the Maldives and Indonesia.

H.E Mr Harimawan Suyitno, thanked the Minister for receiving him and expressed his interest to work on further strengthening the existing bilateral relations and mentioned that tonight, Indonesia would be hosting Indonesia’s Independence Day reception for the first time in the Maldives.

Minister thanked the Ambassador for his initiative to host Indonesia’s Independence Day reception in the Maldives and noted that more accredited foreign diplomatic missions located in Colombo are holding their national day functions in Male’ now. Minister also discussed ways of further strengthening the existing ties between the two countries, especially in sectors such as human resource development and investments.

The Ambassador assured his commitment to working with the Government in strengthening the existing close relations between the two countries.

Mr. Nashid Hussain, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Indonesia in the Maldives, Dr. Hussain Niyaaz, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ms. Lauza Ali, Director of the Foreign Ministry of the Maldives also participated in the meeting.
