Ambassador of China calls on Foreign Minister

2 August 2016, Male'; His Excellency Mr. Wang Fukang, Ambassador of the People’s Republic China to Maldives, paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Foreign Affairs, His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Asim today.

During the meeting held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador conveyed warm greetings and facilitations to Minister Asim on his appointment as Foreign Minister. Ambassador assured the commitment of the Government of China in strengthening the close relations between the two countries. 

Foreign Minister Asim thanked the Ambassador for the warm wishes and expressed that the Maldives attaches high importance to the bilateral relations with China. He also expressed desire to further strengthen the close cooperation and highlighted valuable support extended by the Government of China to the economic development of the Maldives.  

Foreign Minister Asim was accompanied by Ms. Aishath Azeema, Joint Secretary of Foreign Affairs and Ms. Fathimath Reena, Senior Desk Officer, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
