Minister Dunya sends condolence message to Japanese Foreign Minister

03 July 2016, Male'; The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Maldives, H.E Ms. Dunya Maumoon has sent a message of condolence to H.E. Mr. Fumio Kishida, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan following the deadly terrorist attack in Dhaka that killed innocent lives.  

The Minister’s message reads as follows:

I was deeply shocked and saddened to learn of the deadly terrorist attack in Dhaka yesterday that left dead 22 innocent and precious lives including seven Japanese nationals.

In this hour of grief and national mourning, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy and condolences to Your Excellency and the Government and the friendly people of Japan, especially to the families of those who lost their lives in this horrific incident.

This heinous and cowardly terrorist attack yet again reminds us of the cruel and barbaric nature of terrorism and the urgent need for the international community to work together to defeat terrorism globally.  Acts of terrorism has no justifications whatsoever, no matter where, for any purpose or cause.  I assure Your Excellency of the firm and unwavering commitment of the Government of the Maldives in the fight against terrorism.

At this time of national tragedy and mourning, I extend my sincere condolences to the members of the bereaved families and profound sympathies to your Excellency and the Government and the people of Japan.
