31 March 2015, London; Acting High Commissioner Mr Hassan Shifau has met with some members of the Maldivian Students Association (MSA) today, to discuss the ways in which the High Commission could further assist Maldivian students based in the UK.
Three students from the MSA's Executive Committee attended the meeting with the Acting High Commissioner, which preceded the MSAâ€™s Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) on 4 April 2015.
During the meeting a number of topics were discussed including MSA funding, strengthening relations between Maldivians in the UK and the High Commission, and the High Commissionâ€™s on-going engagement with the UK Government on student visa applications.
Mr Shifau also took the opportunity to highlight the importance of â€˜Minivan 50â€™, and expressed his hope that the High Commission and the MSA could collaborate to mark this occasion and promote Maldivian culture in the UK.
The MSAâ€™s EGM will be held in Guildford, Surrey over the coming weekend, and will be accompanied by a number of recreational activities for the Maldivian students in the UK.
