Maldives President Congratulates H.M. Queen Elizabeth II on Diamond Jubilee
5th June 2012, London; President Waheed today congratulated Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on the occasion of her Diamond Jubilee.
President Waheed, who is in London to attend the celebrations, said “on behalf of the people of the Maldives, I extend my sincere congratulations to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on the magnificent occasion of her Diamond Jubilee and with it, sixty years as the head of the Commonwealth. I am honoured to attend the celebrations taking place in London.”
In addition to attending a number of events to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee, President Waheed will use the trip to the UK as an opportunity to brief Heads of State and senior officials of the UK and other Commonwealth countries on the current political and economic situation in Maldives.
