President Mohamed Nasheed has today appointed Mr Mark T. Lynas as the Advisor on Climate Change.
Mark Lynas is a British author, journalist and environmental activist who focuses on climate change. In 2007 he published “Six Degrees: Our Future on a Hotter Planet”, a book detailing the progressive effect of global warming in several planetary ecosystems, from 1 degree to 6 degrees and further of average temperature rise of the planet. In 2008 National Geographic released a documentary film based on Lynas's book.
Speaking to Mr Lynas before presenting his letter of appointment, President Nasheed thanked him for his assistance in the area of climate change. The President also expressed his confidence that Mr Lynas would continue to provide his expertise to the Maldives, especially in achieving its goal to become carbon neutral.

At a meeting held today in Kuala Lumpur during President Nasheed's ongoing visit to Malaysia, Kosovo's President Dr Fatmir Sejdiu has thanked the government of the Maldives for being one of the first countries to recognise Kosovo’s independence.

President presents certificate to the first solo rower crossing of the Zero Degree Channel
President Mohamed Nasheed has today presented certificate to Guin Batten, who successfully rowed solo across the Maldives’ equatorial Zero Degree Channel.
