High Commission holds Flag Hoisting Ceremony at WTM
 



The High Commission of Maldives and the Maldives Tourism Promotion Board held a flag hoisting ceremony at the Maldives's stand at the World Travel Market, today.

The ceremony was held to commemorate the Republic of Day of Maldives. Speaking at the ceremony, High Commissioner Dr. Faizal welcomed all delegates from the Maldives participating at WTM to London and welcomed them to visit the High Commission whenever they visit London.

The High Commissioner’s speech was followed by the National Anthem of Maldives and hoisting of the flag by Hon. Dr. Ahmed Ali Sawaad, Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture.

The ceremony ended with High Commissioner Dr. Faizal voting for the Maldives as one of the New7Wonders.

At a meeting held today in Kuala Lumpur during President Nasheed's ongoing visit to Malaysia, Kosovo's President Dr Fatmir Sejdiu has thanked the government of the Maldives for being one of the first countries to recognise Kosovo’s independence.
