Applying for a new passport

This service is available only for Maldivians who are applying for a passport for the first time.

Processing time:

Approximately 12 days; if the express postage is paid and if there is no mistake in the application.

For a speedy service please ensure that all necessary documents are submitted when making your request

Documents required for Issuance of new passports

  1. A letter requesting for the issuance of a new PP with details of documents attached.
  2. Passport Application Form, duly filled, including contact number and signature (if the child is under the age of 18, Father, Mother or the Guardian) of the child should sign on all relevant boxes.
  3. Two passport-size photographs (white background). Please note that the photo should fit the requirements set by the Department of Immigration and Emigration. Requirements can be checked here.
  4. Copy of Maldivian Identification Card (if the person does not have an ID card you should submit the Birth certificate.)
  5. Passport fee for the passport.

Revenue stamps £0.41
Express postage (UK to Maldives) £32.28
Royal Mail Special Delivery (next day by 1pm) £5.90
Total £52.78

Penalty charges maybe imposed by the Department of Immigration & Emigration, should the passport was reported lost / damaged by the passport holder’s negligence.
