Recruitment of 2011 Education Volunteers begins!

VOLUNTEER AS A TEACHER IN THE MALDIVES

The Maldivian Government and Friends of Maldives (FOM) are recruiting volunteers for the International Volunteer Programme (IVP), to teach English language, science, mathematics and other subjects to students aged 6 - 18 in Maldivian community schools and to participate in local community work.

Maldives follows the British curriculum and Maldivian students prepare GCSEs and A’ Levels. The placement will stretch over the academic year in Maldives: January to November 2010. The volunteer programme is intended for university graduates and experienced teachers with strong oral and written communication skills in English, basic operational knowledge of Microsoft Office and internet, knowledge of other cultures and religions, and a strong willingness to integrate into the local culture.

Volunteering in the Maldives is an exciting opportunity to directly impact the lives of small island communities while building up a unique experience for future career prospects.

Conditions: Volunteers are expected to pay for their airfare to the Maldives. Accommodation, utility bills and a US$ 400 monthly allowance will be provided and US$ 1100 upon completion of the full programme.

To apply:
Please email a CV and cover letter to ivp@maldiveshighcommission.org
Deadline: 30 September 2010.
